• The four American presidents carved into Mount Rushmore are; George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

• Before the carving of Mount Rushmore could begin, a lot of rock had to be removed. Dynamite was used to blast away 450,000 tons of rock that still lies at the foot of the mountain today.

• Each of the heads carved into Mount Rushmore is the height of a six-story building. Each eye is 11 feet (3.3 m) wide, each mouth is 18 feet (5.5 m) across and each nose is 20 feet (6 m) tall.
